i've used one. wasn't specifically made for pot, and heated up too much, so you'd have to turn it off when the vapours were comming of abit, then turn it on again etc...

All vaporised buds taste like shit. Use hash or hash oil....

But then why not drill a hole in a glass bottle, put your buds/whatever in the bottom and hold your lighter under it till vapours fill the bottle?

take your finger off the hole and inhale. Voila, a vaporiser. Smiley

Won't there be a large risk of the bottle cracking after it has been exposed to polonged heat from the lighter?

Yeh a mate tried that, but with a blow torch, and the bottle didn't break, it like exploded and shattered glass absolutely everywhere.

I eventually bought a cheapo manual one, the basil bush one, after realising we don't smoke inside that often, and so an electric one would be a waste at the moment. Only tried it once so far, and think we heated it a bit too much. It felt like holding your mouth over a kettle and breathing in, and left us with steamy scolded throats coughing for some time haha. We used skins for the rest of the night after that and haven't used it since. Will have to try it again sometime, though it was only a fiver from manchester and so isn't too much money wasted if we don't.

was there a hole in the bottle by any chance?

in anycase, I'm sure an erenmeyer flask or whatever they're called would work fine, and they're made from PYREX. Or you can get pyrex ones....

But still, you only need to heat up the glass to 180 degrees Celcius, or theres no point. Most flames are hotter than that, aren't they? (couldn't be fucked finding out-- i just smoke bongs, its easier)

But still again, if you've got the money, buy a good one.... theres digital vapos for around 4-500 AUD. (australian dollars) these you can be sure are at the precise temperature....

trying to drill a hole in a glass bottle is not the best idea. I think sync has posted a pretty good foundation on how to build a cheap homemade vaporiser, a glass test tube or bottle, with a snugly fitting rubber bung in which two tubes are put through.
A flame is gonna be a lot more than 180 degrees celsius, I'd say something more like 500 degrees celsius.
