Wet Weed

Yesterday I went to purchase some weed.

When presented with the specifmen, due to it being harvested very recently, it was still quite moist and alive - if you get me.

Now, at first I was pondering this being a good thing, because I'm getting the pot practically straight from the plant.

I then began to ponder this being bad, because the moisture would add to weight and thus I'd be paying for more than I got - and also that it should really be dried out before sold. I mean, its no fun having to dry out your bud yourself.

In the end I managed to haggle him down a bit and I bought it. I have a J in my hand as I speak, and it is a rather nice smoke - very potent.

So, what do you guys think about this?
Do you think it was good that my weed was still moist, or bad?

"Freshness" has never really been an issue with me.

You're paying over the odds for half a job. If it's wet, it's weight will be a lot more than normal and it won't be as easy to handle.

Although, right now a lot of places are bone dry, so you have to take what you can get.

Yeah, I mean it wasn't 'wet' but it was still fresh if ya catch me, and it needed dried out before smoking.

I haggled the guy down and paid what I thought was reasonable, and it turned out to be a fucking phenominal smoke.

I have a set of digital scales, and the difference before and after drying was very small. I can imagine it being more of a problem if you were buying very large amounts, but at an ounce and under it wasn't that big of a deal really.

Plus, you can't find weed anywhere at the moment, and this stuff i the shit - so I can't complain.

Was quite cheap in the first place too without the haggling.

It was half an ounce, when fresh, and after drying it only went down like 0.6g or somewhere there abouts. Cost me £50 and its probably the best pot I've had all year - bearing in mind I've had white widow, ak-47 and some other popular strains this year.

I think it might have been a cross breed. Had a very nice white widow-ish taste and smell, but looked quite skunkish and the potency is pretty brutal.

£50 for half an ounce is incredibly good.

Around here, you'd look to pay £20 for 3.5g, £40 for 7 and about £70 for your 14g

Generally its the same round here, but this guy sells a half for £60 instead of £70 normally, just I haggled. It always pays to see if you can get more bang for your buck. Even if it doesn't work, its always worth trying.

Around here you wait 2 hours in the rain, ring 4 times, and then you take whatever you can get if they do eventually turn up :/

you poor buggers.... should try growing if its that bad. You can do a micro grow; use compact flourescents and plastic storage containers....

but about this weed drying thing, I've grown a bit myself, and sometimes I get a tad impatient and pick some early and dry it as fast as possible.... which results in less potent buds overall, not to mention bad tasteing....

Seems like you've all discussed it pretty well, but i'll give you all some tips i've pickedup along the way.... all pretty straight forward.


* dry it in the dark. UV light degrades THC.
* dry it for at LEAST a week, so all chlorophyll degrades and the buds go brown-ish.
* buds are dry when the stems will snap, not bend.

all that said, buds shouldn't crumble when dry, they should be spongey/springy to touch.


proper drying ensures it burns well and smokes properly and above all, TASTES good.

curing makesthe dried product even better and more potent.

I read the thread post and syncs response.  Yeah basically as long as it isn't drenched and it's not adding a large ammount of weight.  One good thing to it being slightly wet on a jay is burns slower...

Holy thread resurection batman!!

Wet weed is good for rolling.. Smokes oh so good.. Smoke is less harsh and has a smoother feel to it. Plus it stops the blunt from canewing ( lol at spelling.. )
