Aldous Huxley's The Doors Of Perception:- http://www.mescaline.com/huxley.htm
Great book(essay) about Mind at Large and the opening of consciousness through the exploration of drugs (mescaline to be exact).
"One spring morning in 1953, Aldous Huxley took four-tenths of a gramme of mescalin, sat down and waited for the results. When he opened his eyes, he found everything from the flowers in a vase to the creases in his trousers, was completely transformed..."
Definately worth a read, a great text from a great author who spent the rest of his life experimenting with other similar drugs up to his death bed - where his last request was for his LSD.
